The Importance of Energy Healing in 2012 -- By Wendy De Rosa

In today's age, many people are looking to manage stress, heal their bodies, and grow personally. Yoga, meditation, acupuncture, therapy, massage, etc have all entered into the norm of over-all health and mind-body-spirit balancing. Energy healing is also a form of addressing the underlying energy blocks that lead to stress and disconnection. Life is accelerating and we are becoming more technologically advanced. As a result many people are looking to counter balance with stress-reducing techniques or to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Energy Healing is a modality that addresses the underlying layers of stress, emotional blockage, loss, confusion, sadness, etc. Our bodies are made up of energy and our cells carry information about who we are and what our life experiences have been which determine the overall state of well-being. Many of our current emotional or physical symptoms originate from energy blockages that occurred years prior.
Through energy healing, an intuitive energy healer will use their gift of intuition to perceive the energy in another person. They tune into what their client is struggling with and what the blockages are. Through breath, intention and the process of bringing in light to the body, the client will be invited to release the stuck or blocked energy. The client then feels a sense of relief, a deeper awareness of what just got cleared and perhaps a shift in life going forward.
Energy healing is important because it teaches people that thoughts are not in the brain alone. There is a whole deeper information system that is not visible to the naked eye. It's called the energetic body. By understanding the energetic body, you explore a whole new world of knowledge on who you are, how you live your life and how you carry your energy. This becomes vital when choosing to grow personally. All the information about 2012 speaks to the fact that we have to consider our spiritual health when looking to optimize health overall. Energy healing is a way to sooth and heal on a soul-level, which in turn, reduces stress, restores peace and supports physical and emotional healing.
2012 is considered the year for a major "Consciousness Shift" by many spiritual teachers and leaders. Many people are becoming more aware of themselves and of life around them. As a result, people are becoming more conscious. It is as if a person has lived in the dark for a while and all of a sudden a light goes on and that person can see so much more about their life then they were ever able to see before. This is a shift in perception followed by a desire to know more and heal on deeper levels. A person who has this experience, may not go to the doctor to get an answer about what's happening to them. That was the old way. Instead, that person may seek out meditation, a spiritual teacher, yoga, or energy healing.
As we advance into 2012 it is becoming more prevalent to heal from a body-mind-spirit level. We are seeing this reflected in industry changes. In 2011, Americans spent almost $34 Billion dollars on alternative therapies (source: http://nccam.nih.gov/news/2009/073009.htm ). We are even seeing medical schools embracing alterative medicine (soure: http://www.usnews.com/education/best-graduate-schools/articles/2011/04/12/medical-schools-embrace-alternative-medicine )
It may be assumed that these therapies treat the physical body, but when approaching healing from a holistic perspective, there will automatically be a shift in the energetic body. As we enter the age of progressive healing, energy healing is an extremely supportive modality for reducing stress, calming the spirit and over-all well-being.

Natural Treatments for Hepatitis C -- By Denice Moffat

What I've noticed over the years is that I get a run of cases with the same disease in a short period of time. Last month I saw lots of clients with Multiple Sclerosis (or the misdiagnosis of same.) We learned about the low-fat Swank diet and all the drugs used to treat this particular disease process.
This month I had a run of Hepatitis C clients. They each had contracted the disease differently, but none-the-less, their lives have been permanently shifted from this terrible disease which is seemingly not curable. The common thread that assisted these clients was that each person had to make some lifestyle changes (a permanent lifestyle choice that was healthier than they were living.) Stressing the optimal amounts of raw fruits/vegetables is always a staple in my programs--especially the dark green ones in hepatitis cases, but we also centered on the liver.
So let's review hepatitis C and natural treatments for it.
Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver (Hepato is the root word for liver and anything ending in "itis" means inflammation.) Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the many viruses that can cause inflammation of the liver. Other causes are irritation to the liver from alcohol, bacterial infections, drugs, and cancer. At least 75% of people infected with hepatitis C develop chronic hepatitis C which can be progressive and fatal. Once you have it, you will need to find ways to keep it under control. This disease never completely goes away. However, my clients have had very good luck with alternative medicine treatments for hepatitis C, but they work at it and stick with a good program.
About 4 million people in the United States have antibodies to HCV, meaning they have been infected with the virus at some point. Half of these people don't even know they have it. All forms of viral hepatitis are contagious.
The most common way hepatitis C is passed is through direct contact with blood. Drug users often have this disease because they re-use and share needles. Needles, and before 1992 prior to the blood test which became available to test for the virus, transfusions, organ transplants, and hemodialysis have all been vehicles for transferring the virus, but I have known people to warn others not to even drink out of the same cup as they are drinking out of, so it could also be passed through saliva.
Childbirth, sexual intercourse and accidental needle sticks (most common in nurses and the human medical field) are also less common causes of transmission. Sharing toiletry items is another way of passing the virus (e.g. razors and nail clippers.)
Symptoms and Signs of Hepatitis: Eighty percent of people infected with Hepatitis C do not have symptoms. Symptoms may also be mild and come and go over the lifetime of the patient. Less frequently, the patient will come down with an acute case of hepatitis with full-blown symptoms.
Symptoms typically occur 5-12 weeks after being exposed to the virus and may last for weeks to months and include: liver pain (on the right side just under the rib cage area), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, dark colored urine, gray or clay colored stools, irritability, confusion, and headaches (due to dehydration from chronic diarrhea.) Chronic hepatitis often leads to cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis is where healthy liver tissue is taken over by scar tissue. When this happens, the liver loses its ability to detoxify the blood.
Additional symptoms at this time include fluid retention (especially below the rib cage in the belly area), jaundice (also called icterus which is a yellowing of the skin seen most obviously in the whites of the eyes), chronic fatigue, sleep disturbance, itchy skin, weight loss (wasting disease), vomiting now with blood in it (so it could look like coffee grounds) and finally hepatic encephalopathy characterized by hallucinations.
When the liver is sick, we see diseases like high cholesterol, high triglycerides, hemorrhoids, cancer, allergies, varicose veins and lots of anger and resentments.
I don't know which comes first in these types of cases; anger causing the liver-based diseases or liver-based diseases resulting in anger. The good thing is that we have LOTS of options on how to overcome these challenges and it doesn't really matter where you start as long as you start and keep at it.
My favorite treatments for hepatitis include:
1. Raw fruits/veggies (especially dark green foods, bitter vegetables, red fruits, and beets.)
2. Barfy Green Stuff (or some other green food--it really doesn't matter too much what you choose.
3. Drink plenty of filtered, chorine and fluoride free water to stay hydrated.
4. Exercise, but don't overdo it. Walking is wonderful--especially on a consistent schedule.
5. Homeopathics specifically to bind and excrete the Hepatitis virus (I use Professional Health Formulations Hepatitis Nosode Drops.)
6. Emotional release work (to help dislodge the Emotional Cysts in the liver.)
7. Herbs to support the liver as needed including but not limited to: Milk Thistle (Also Called Silymarin), Burdock Root, Safflower, Licorice, Green Tea, Dandelion, Artichoke, Cordyceps Mushroom, Turmeric, and Peppers. Note: It's important to take what your body needs but not more than it needs. The body has to process everything put into it. If there is extra, the liver has to work to get it out of the system.
8. Evaluation of current lifestyle habits and suggestions to decrease toxification.
9. Rebuilding of the cells with a Glandular/protomorphogen (I love Livaplex by Standard Process Labs(TM))
10. Abstinence from all alcohol products and any kind of drug that is processed through the liver (Tylenol, NSAIDS, some pain killers, and lots of other drugs are processed through the liver--ask your pharmacist and doctor about anything you put into your mouth!)
11. Work on relieving all anger and resentment issues in your life and dove-tail in forgiveness work. Anger and resentments are stored in the liver.
12. Managing liver-associated diseases: allergies, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, glaucoma and cancer.
13. Eliminating metaphors from your vocabulary having to do with anger, hatred, resentment, and being galled and stubborn.
Self-forgiveness seems to be one common obstacle to overcome in these particular cases. It is most important to understand that there was a reason why they contracted the disease, it taught them valuable lessons, but now it's time to come to a resolution and move onto a healthier way of being.
Life is a journey. The challenges we have are a Gift from God. What we do with those challenges are our gift to Him. If we focus on the similarities instead of how we feel ostracized and alienated, we find that all in all, we want the same things...to be loved, understood and valued. I believe that this is what life is all about.

Hepatitis C - Cures Versus Side Effects -- By Nicholas St Jon

Hepatitis C is the leading cause of Liver transplants in the U.S. (see the CDC's website)
With 10,000 people dying every year from Hep C, this is a VERY serious problem. That's over 1 person every hour. 8 to 10 people die every day while waiting for a liver transplant.
Hepatitis C is a LONG TERM disease that can take YEARS to manifest symptoms.
Many famous people have had Hep C and ended up with Liver transplants or died of liver disease, such as: Evel Knievel, Mickey Mantle who died shortly after a Liver transplant in 1995, Keith Richards, Naomi Judd who had to retire early from a very successful music career to undergo the PegInterferon treatments, Freddy Fender who died in 2006 after a Liver transplant in 2004, Natalie Cole, daughter of Nat King Cole, Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers band, and Pamela Anderson.
A little background on Hepatitis C: its cause is from the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) which is mostly transferred from human to human through the blood, pre-1992 was through blood transfusions, but is also contracted through unsterilized needles in drug use, tattoos, and piercings.
Until recently, it was a disease that had no known treatment or cure according to the medical establishment. Now PegInterferon alfa-2a and 2b Weekly SHOTS coupled with daily Ribavirin pills are the only "recognized" treatment of Hepatitis C. And at a cost of nearly $20,000 for the 42 week treatment with about a 40% success rate.
And now the BAD news, as if $20,000 isn't bad enough already or a Liver transplant can be somewhere north of $267,000, using PegInterferon and Ribavirin has a set of daunting side effects. They are:
  • Depression
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Joint pain
  • Nausea
  • Stomach cramps
  • Dry mouth
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry skin
  • Hair loss
  • Sore throat
  • Unusual bleeding
  • Vomiting
  • Jaundice
  • Chest pain
  • Vision changes
  • Seizures
  • Stroke-like symptoms
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Allergic reactions
  • Trouble breathing
See ( MedicineCabin )
Wow, that is a daunting list, especially for 43 or more weeks.
Of course, if I had Hep C and insurance that would cover the cost of the treatments, I'd rather face the side effects than dying or having to get a liver transplant. Who could blame you?
HERE IS THE VERY ***GOOD NEWS***!
I have a friend who was diagnosed about 15 years ago with Hep C. He'd done some research on "alternative" methods of treating this disease and found a very inexpensive way to treat Hep C without ANY side effects.
When he was diagnosed with Hep C, his viral count was over 3.5 million, taking this alternative treatment without having to really change anything in his lifestyle or diet, in 12 weeks the viral count had dropped to just over 1.5 million and now is steadily in the 15,000 to 20,000 range. Obviously, SOMETHING he was doing was successful!
What he used was a treatment found in burn salve/ointment and on gauze for dressing wounds, approved by the FDA and found to be MOST effective in arresting infections from viruses, bacteria, or germs. Its an element on the Periodic Chart, its Periodic Table reference is number 47 with a symbol of Ag, better known as Silver.
He couldn't just suck on a Silver Dollar and get better, the silver had to be electrolyzed into pure distilled water and then drunk in small quantities.
In studying the subject of Ionized or Colliodalized Silver, he found in theory that when these small particles of silver were inside the body, they rendered the cells infected by the Hep C virus incapacitated. The EXACT science of A-VAg47 is not known because major studies RISK showing that A-VAg47 might prove to be a BETTER alternative to very profitable, patented drugs.
In summary, if you have Hep C, you could take a $20,000 synthetically engineered Interferon by sticking a needle into your stomach once a week for 42 weeks and taking a pill once a day plus the anti-depressants you'll need to counter the depression side effects and tolerate most of the known side effects listed above OR you could obtain a A-VAg47 Maker and make your own A-VAg47 daily or by the gallon for about $0.25 a day with NO side effects. Just a thought.
If I was diagnosed with Hep C, I'd personally try the A-VAg47 route for 6 months or so to see if it could get the Hep C under control and then if not, risk the PegInterferon and Ribavirin and their side effects. I personally prefer drinking a glass of water with silver ionized into it with NO side effects over sticking myself in the stomach once a week with a needle and having a bunch of undesirable side effects. Unless you are in a latter stage liver disease diagnosis, A-VAg47 seems to be a safer route to try.
One last note, do NOT believe all the hype about Alternative Medicines, we KNOW that 120,000 people die each and every year from misdiagnoses, mix up in medicines, and medicines that have fatal adverse reactions with each other. As opposed to not one single death from anyone EVER taking A-VAg47.

Is A Live Food Diet Now the Way To Go? -- By Amirah Bellamy Platinum Quality Author Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5489419

It's the hottest topic among the health conscious, doctors are recommending it to many of their patients, and dieters are using it as a way to detox and lose weight. A live food diet, also known as a raw food diet, is quickly becoming the best thing since sliced bread. What began as an outlandish and over-the-top venture for nutritional enthusiasts has now become what many are referring to as a long sought after miracle cure for many of today's health pandemics.

In the event that you don't know what a live food diet is it's a diet where only live, plant-based, uncooked, unprocessed foods are consumed. Live foods consists of foods either not cooked at all or cooked at or below 118 degrees. Essentially, a raw foodist consumes only fresh fruits, fresh juices, fresh vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds legumes and some seaweed.

The benefit of eating this way is that it ensures that the body absorbs as much of the live vitamins, minerals, nutrients and enzymes as possible from food. A live food diet is also said to lower the risk of cancer, diabetes, stroke and other deadly diseases. It can lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels, give you increased energy, clearer skin, improved digestion and longevity. Additionally, some raw foodists even report having a heightened sensitivity to the energy around them.

Suffice it to say that, a live food diet is the way to go these days especially amidst all the pandemics like obesity, diabetes, and cancers. Aside from that, with all the killer ingredients (and I do mean that literally) being pumped into food these days live foods seem to be the most full-proof way of ensuring that what you are feeding your body is nutritionally sound.

The Trampoline - Incredible Health Benefits -- By Michael Russell Platinum Quality Author

It's obvious that trampolining is good general exercise but in this article, we'll explore why it's of such a benefit to our health.

Exercise for the Cells

Toxins or poisons can congregate in the cells of the body for a number of reasons. They may have been introduced by ourselves, by smoking for example, or they may have entered through a cut or other broken skin, or just by entering through the nose or mouth. Some toxins are produced in the body during the normal course of the metabolic process. Most are fought by the immune system and removed naturally through organs such as the liver, kidneys, lung colon and skin in the form of urine, faeces, exhalation and sweat.

It is thought though, that the G force exerted on the body by the bouncing motion on a trampoline, helps to "push out" the toxins and while the body is, briefly, airborne the lower cell pressure permits the influx of nutrients and oxygen thus improving cell "exercise".

Bouncing for a Healthy Heart

Exercising on a trampoline has several benefits in terms of the body's cardiovascular system:

1. Increases strength and fitness of the muscles, especially of the legs, helping to lighten the load on the heart when pumping blood around the body

2. Increases oxygen availability throughout the body

3. Maintains a healthy body weight and lessens the likelihood of obesity

4. Aids lymphatic circulation

5. Reduces level of cholesterol and triglycerides

6. Stimulates the metabolism and digestive processes.

Bones of Steel

Well, perhaps not quite, but it has been shown that this sort of high impact exercise, improves the bone mineral content and therefore the density thus lessening the likelihood of fractures due to osteoporosis. Unlike other forms of high impact exercise such as jogging, the bounciness of the trampoline mat absorbs the down force and won't cause jarring of the load bearing joints or spine.

Motoring

Trampolining helps to develop motor skill because of the need to maintain both height and balance simultaneously while responding to gravitational forces. Thus, all sides of the body and brain are involved in the exercise.

You don't need a large trampoline to be able to benefit in the above ways. A small, portable one, known as a rebounder, will do just as well.

Natural Diabetes Cure - Asian Ginseng For Diabetes Treatment --- By S Kennedy Platinum Quality Author

Asian ginseng for diabetes treatment is an essential part of your management plan for a natural diabetes cure. Ginseng is a distinct slow-growing perennial plant that has fleshy roots that belongs to the Panax genus in the family of Araliaceae. This plant grows in the northern hemisphere in eastern Asia (mainly north China, Korea and eastern Siberia), and is typically found in cooler climates.

The traditional use of Asian ginseng roots is taken orally as adaptogens, aphrodisiacs, nourishing stimulants, and in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Asian ginseng root is available in dried form, either whole or sliced. The leaf of the ginseng is not as beneficial as the root of the plant.

Asian ginseng is a traditional Chinese medicine that promotes yang energy, improves circulation, increases blood supply, stimulates the body, and revitalises and aids in the recovery from weakness after illness. There are four forms of the Asian ginseng as a natural diabetes cure available and they are:

* Fresh ginseng, which is the raw product
* White ginseng, which is the fresh ginseng that has been dried. It is grown for four to six years, then peeled and dried to reduce the water content to 12% or less
* Red ginseng is harvested after six years, it is not peeled and is steam-cured at standard boiling temperatures of 100 degrees Celsius, which gives it the reddish-brown colour
* Sun ginseng is created from a heat processing method which increases the ginsenoside components by steaming white ginseng at a higher temperature than red ginseng

According to traditional Chinese medicine all of these forms of ginseng have unique healing properties.

Asian ginseng has the ability to lower LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, while raising the good cholesterol known as HDL (high-density lipoprotein). It may also help to lower your blood pressure, however, people with hypertension should consult their doctor before taking Asian ginseng for diabetes treatment.

Following are some of the benefits of Asian ginseng:

* Type 2 diabetes - has shown that is can help to lower blood sugar levels
* Cardiovascular health - Asian ginseng has antioxidant properties that helps the body get rid of free radicals, which can damage DNA and is said to contribute to heart disease, diabetes and other conditions
* Stress and well-being - Asian ginseng is often called "adaptogen", which helps the body to deal with stress
* Cancer - research has shown that it may reduce the risk of some types of cancer, some of these include liver, pancreatic, stomach, ovarian, and lung
* Menopausal symptoms - studies have shown that is can relieve some of the menopausal symptoms that include improvement on mood, depression and a sense of well-being
* Alzheimer's disease - studies have shown it may slow the progress of this terrible disease
* Immune system health - it is understood that it can enhance the immune system by helping the body to fight off infection and disease

A natural diabetes cure called Asian ginseng is absolutely vital to include in your diabetes management plan so that you can achieve optimum health.

Sjogren Syndrome - Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment -- By Abdulmubeen Mundewadi Platinum Quality Author

Sjogren syndrome, also known as sicca complex, is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by xerostomia (dry mouth), xerophthalmia (dry eyes) and lymphocytic infiltration of the exocrine glands. Women are more affected by this condition than men. Common signs and symptoms include dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue, muscular pains, dry skin, vaginal dryness, lymph node and parotid gland involvement, polyneuropathy and diseases of the kidney.

The Ayurvedic treatment of Sjogren syndrome is aimed at reducing the symptoms and treating the main pathology of the disease. Dry eyes can be treated using medicated eye drops containing Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Chandan (Santalum album), Sphatik (Purified alum), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Rose water and Karpur (Purified camphor). A dry mouth is treated using medicines like Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Parpat (Fumaria vaillantii), Usheer (Vetiveria zizanioidis). Lymph node and parotid gland involvement is treated using medicines like Kachnaar-Guggulu, Triphala-Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Patol (Tricosanthe dioica) and Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa). Muscular aches and joint pain can be treated using medicines like Trayodashang-Guggulu, Yograj-Guggulu, Vat-Gajankush-Ras and Maha-Vat-Vidhwans-Ras.

Polyneuropathy and inflammation of the arteries can be treated using medicines like Kaishor-Guggulu, Tapyadi-Loh, Ekang-Veer-Ras, Chandrakala-Ras, Mahamanjishthadi-Qadha, Saarivadi-Churna and Bruhat-Vat-Chintamani. Dry skin and vaginal dryness can be treated with the local application of medicated oils like Chandan- Bala-Laxadi oil, Mahanarayan oil, Mahamash oil, Mahasaindhavadi oil, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut and Shatadhout-Ghrut. Diseases of the kidneys can be treated using medicines like Chandraprabha-Vati, Gokshuradi-Guggulu, Punarnavadi-Qadha, Gomutra-Haritaki and Punarnavadi-Guggulu.

The basic pathology of the disease relates to reduced or absent secretions from several glands and organs. In order to treat this, 'Snehan' therapy is given to the patients on a long term basis. This involves the oral use of high doses of milk and medicated ghee like Panch-Tikta-Ghrut, Yashtimadhuk-Ghrut and Dashmool-Ghrut. Butter can also be used for this purpose. The addition of Saindhav or Yav-Kshar to the medicated ghee increases the therapeutic properties of the medicines. The same medicines can also be used to massage the entire body.

Sjogren syndrome rarely shortens a patient's life span, however disability from the symptoms can be devastating. An early diagnosis of this condition and prompt initiation of treatment is therefore very important.

Can Sjogren's Syndrome Be Cured? -- By Allison Clarke Platinum Quality Author

When you have an illness you want a cure, but not all illnesses have cures. Take Sjogren's syndrome, for instance. This autoimmune disorder can be unpleasant and even dangerous for individuals who have it but is there a cure?

Treating Sjogren's Syndrome

Sjogren's syndrome with its classic primary symptoms of dry eyes and dry mouth is more likely to be treated than cured. There are many different approaches to treating the symptoms that an individual with this disorder may experience but these treatments depend on the specific symptoms that an individual presents with and the severity of these symptoms. There are even surgical procedures that are a possibility in some extreme cases.

In the end, the symptoms of Sjogren's syndrome are more likely to be managed than cured. These symptoms include dry eyes, dry mouth, painful and swollen joints, swollen salivary glands, dryness of the skin, and fatigue.

These symptoms may be addressed individually or collectively in some cases, but to begin with one must address the issue of dry mouth. Its severity could make eating or talking difficult if it is not addressed.

Dry mouth is a problem. Even if a person is still able to eat and speak then dry mouth can make the mouth a breeding ground for bacteria. Luckily, there are products with natural ingredients that can help to return some moisture to the mouth even as they kill bad bacteria.

These natural products can then aid in removing these bad bacteria from the mouth, helping to promote overall dental hygiene. Of course, this approach should only be used in conjunction with a proper dental care routine involving daily brushing and flossing. Natural products are more of an adjunct to this most basic yet crucial approach to dental care.

The keys to success in the battle against gum disease and most oral problems are hidden in nature. Fighting the bacteria that causes the problem is the first place to start and specific species of peppermint and spearmint oils are scientifically proven to be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-microbial. Get your mouth in mint condition today!

Allison Clarke is an author and natural health enthusiast. This article covers some of her resent research on gum infection and how it relates to gum disease and your body's overall health.

Wild Oregano Oil: Not Just Another Italian Spice== By Hillary Sole

Most plants that we eat give our health a good boost. Garlic, most commonly used as a spice in dishes, is also known for its medicinal value. Garlic is known to be a natural antibiotic. It prevents the growth of microorganisms such as fungi and viruses, thus preventing infections. Another plant, the oregano, a spice most famously used in Italian dishes, also has the same medicinal value as the garlic.
The extracts from the Wild Oregano plant called the wild oregano oil is as well a natural antibiotic. It prevents the growth of microscopic organisms such as fungi, bacteria, parasites and viruses.
The human body has natural anti bodies. When attacked by foreign microbes, these anti bodies our body produce are released to attack the invaders. When our natural anti bodies can not fight these organisms, we rely on antibodies either from plants or micro organisms developed by our scientists and medical researchers.
Studies have shown that the wild oregano oil is effective in boosting our immune system. Simply put, it makes our immune system stronger in fighting these harmful foreign microbes thus making us less vulnerable to catch diseases and infections such as colds and flu, etc. Infections in our bodies are most commonly caused by bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. If your immune system is weak, the more chances there is for you to get sick once you get in contact with these microbes. The oregano oil helps your immune system toughen up, and get rid of these unwelcome microbes. So if you are always getting the colds or always down with the flu, the wild oregano oil can be good for you.
In the fight against infections, wild oregano oil is known to have anti bacterial, anti virus, anti parasitic and anti fungal property. This means that it is a broad spectrum antibiotic. The Health Benefits of Raw Garlic== By Mary Bodel Platinum Quality Author

Garlic has been used since the days of the Bible. In the story of the Exodus, the Children of Israel complained that they didn't have it in the wilderness and mourned for the lack of the flavor.
Flavor is not the only thing that garlic can provide, though it is up there when it comes to most potent flavor. Only cayenne and black pepper rival it in the cooking department. The only problem is that to get the most benefit from it, it should be consumed raw.
I tried that once. It didn't occur that the bite I would take could bite back, but it did. I've since learned how to fix it so it doesn't burn my tongue. Wrapping some chopped garlic in a piece of bread works wonders, especially if you can avoid chewing it much. Otherwise, you'll want to invest in some gel caps.
Why would I be willing to go through that much effort to get the full benefits?
Antibiotics: Until medications could be manufactured to fight infections, garlic was used. In fact, it was used in both the Civil War and both World Wars for this reason. It is not as potent as today's medications, but it can help with minor problems. Even pimples respond to placing some garlic oil on them.
Cholesterol: Studies are mixed when it comes to the benefits of garlic on cholesterol. Until the recent past, it was considered a prime remedy, but recent studies have put that use in question.
High Blood Pressure: This is an area that most scientists are agreed on, regular consumption of this potent bulb can be beneficial to those with high blood pressure. It is best consumed raw, but taking the supplements may also work in this instance.
Possible Cancer Fighter: I've seen one report that garlic was useful in dealing with cancer. Many more have to be done to prove or disprove this quality.
If you choose to use raw garlic, you may want to have some ginger handy, as it can upset your stomach. Those on blood thinners should check with their doctors before adding it to their supplement list, as it can also thin blood. As with all herbs, it's best to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take it regularly. It does have a few drug/herb interactions.
One last note, no matter how you take it, raw, cooked or in a supplement, you will have to deal with garlic breath. It's in your saliva. If you want to reduce that effect, eating parsley will help.
In my eBook, Defeating High Blood Pressure, there is more information about resolving high blood pressure and preventing the damage it can cause.
It is $2, and loaded with information such as causes, medical and herbal remedies.

Alternative Medicine - Naturopathic Doctors--- By Dr. Alexander Haskell, ND Platinum Quality Author

The term "alternative medicine" is loosely used to include any health practitioner who is not using the conventional or orthodox approach of drug prescriptions and considers their methods to be "natural." Yet can anyone practicing alternative medicine be considered a practitioner of medicine? Without a sound knowledge of human biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, I don't believe they should be.
The Art of Medicine
What might be the ideal, the highest form of this art, no matter what terms are used to describe it, whether it be alternative medicine, complementary medicine or holistic medicine?
Ideally the practitioner is knowledgeable about diseases and their diagnoses. This means deciphering their client's symptoms in relation to lab test results.
They must understand how and why health may slowly succumb to disease. Disease may take years and even decades to develop and during this interim the practitioner must witness their client's tendencies, to know ways of halting its progression and to assist the body to return to health once again. This is preventative medicine and is a very important component of alternative medicine.
A practitioner must know the reasons why health declines. These include the following:
  • Lack of nutrients including vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, proteins and fats, all required for health.
  • Lack of sufficient exposure to sunshine leading to vitamin D deficiency which underlies osteoporosis, some multiple sclerosis patients, low thyroid hormone symptoms, and others.
  • Lack of sleep and adequate rest leading to nervous exhaustion, adrenal deficiency, and a host of psychological problems.
  • Unremitting stress harms the nervous system and the mind.
  • Environmental chemicals and toxins are a burden to the body. They can damage RNA and DNA, and cause irritation and inflammation. One category of chemicals termed Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals interfere with normal endocrine and thyroid function.
  • Under-functioning detoxification pathways of the body.
  • Heavy metals leading to immunological dysfunction.
  • Poor bowel ecology which interferes with digestion and absorption. Bacteria, fungus and parasites can also exist.
  • Allergies, especially to foods, cause a number of chronic problems.
  • Silent, chronic infections are found in the gut, teeth, tonsils and scars. An infection can exist without either the client or the physician being aware of it.
InvestigationAlternative medicine is not simply controlling symptoms through whatever "natural" methods a practitioner uses.
Our bodies communicate to us through symptoms. Symptoms can result when the body isn't getting what it needs (nutrients), when there's a structural misalignment (chiropractic or osteopathic), when an emotion or experience has been suppressed and not dealt with (psychology), when there 's something in the body that needs to be removed (bacteria, fungus, etc.) or if there's a hormonal imbalance (thyroid & endocrine).
So our body may communicate in it's own language that something is wrong. "I need more rest," or, "I need more protein," or, "I need you to take life less seriously," or, "I need a break," or, "I need to do something I like to do for a change." Some symptoms are vague like fatigue and irritability while others are more specific like headaches and arthritis.
A low grade toothache is a simple example of what I am referring to. For someone with a very busy life their approach may be to take a pain killer hoping the nagging tooth ache will go away. But eventually they have to visit their dentist. The options then are to fill the tooth if the pain is due to decay, a root canal if the nerve is inflamed or the tooth is infected, or to simply pull it.
But often no one asks the question why. "What happened with my tooth? Why did this problem develop in the first place? What can I do to prevent another problem with my teeth?"
The tooth ache could be due to a lack of minerals, making the tooth susceptible to decay. Maybe a problem exists in the gut that inhibits the absorption of minerals from food. Maybe the system and the saliva are overly acidic causing some damage to the enamel of the teeth. Maybe the immune system is a little run down causing an increased susceptible to a tooth infection.
Ideally with any symptom or condition we should be asking why, and then to investigate the possibilities. Every symptom and every condition of the human body and mind have causes and a practitioner of alternative medicine must be familiar with this type of investigation.
This investigation includes the following:
  • A thorough physical examination
  • A review of their client's medical history and their family's medical history
  • Review of their lifestyle, what contributes to their health and what wears it down
  • An in-depth review of their condition, the circumstances around which the condition appeared and how it progressed
  • A review of their past and present eating habits
  • Their exposure to environmental chemicals and toxins
  • A comprehensive lab test panel
If someone considers themselves to be a practitioner of alternative medicine, they must be knowledgeable about human physiology, biochemistry, pathology, immunology, endocrinology, and psychology or they must be working as a member of a team whose purpose is to investigate the causes of their client's condition and to then apply therapies or protocols. I might add that therapies may include pharmacy and that anyone practicing alternative medicine should be familiar with the importance and necessary of sometimes applying a pharmaceutical. We understand the shortcomings of pharmaceuticals in that they counteract symptoms and do not address the cause yet to take an alternative stance without the knowledge of pharmacy is a very narrow and one-sided perspective.
The practice of medicine must be for the restoration of the client's health. In order to accomplish this there must be the knowledge of why and how the client slipped from a state of health into one of illness. The underlying philosophy of medicine is that the body is able to self-correct and to return to a state of health if it is provided the means. This requires that the practitioner of the art of medicine must also understands health and what contributes to health.
Do we treat disease? Yes, but primarily through supporting health.

Health Benefits Of Garlic - Four Reasons Why You Should Include Garlic In Your Diet By Karen Lee Leong

Garlic, an essential ingredient in many cuisines, not only enhances the flavor of many dishes but also provides a host of well documented health benefits as well. Touted as a 'nature's wonder drug', nature's antibiotic, nature's penicillin, it can be easily incorporated into your daily diet either raw or cooked with meals or as supplements. A daily dose of garlic is a great natural remedy to improve your health. Being pungent in flavor and warm in nature makes it especially good as an autumn, winter diet supplement. Crushing garlic releases allicin, the main active medicinal sulfur compound of garlic.
1. Anti-bacteria, antiviral and anti-fungal properties- Good for preventing and treating lung infections. It has been traditionally used to treat coughs and colds. Eating the raw herb or taking garlic capsules may help to prevent catching the flu during the flu epidemic. Boiling the bulb in vinegar and taking one or two cloves daily is a traditional Chinese remedy for lung abscess. Having antibiotic properties makes it suitable for treating intestinal infections but without damaging the healthful intestinal flora. Due to its antiseptic and anti-fungal properties, it can be used effectively to treat fungal infections like athlete's foot or ringworm. Crushed raw garlic applied topically on the infected area might cause slight irritation. A better option might be garlic gel with the added advantage of being odorless. Taking garlic on a daily basis combats infections[another example is recurrent yeast infections] and boosts the immune system.
2. Beneficial to the cardiovascular system- It helps to prevent platelets in blood from sticking together, lessen the risk of blood clot formation and enhances the removal of plague from the blood vessels thus benefiting the heart. It helps to prevent hardening of arteries by reducing fatty deposits on its walls and lowering high blood pressure and can be used to suppress production of harmful LDL cholesterol in the liver. Taking garlic capsules to assist in lowering high blood pressure might be more suitable than the raw herb with its pungent and spicy flavor and its warm nature, which might be too stimulating for people with high blood pressure. Aged garlic extract being rich in antioxidants, is beneficial to the cardiovascular system.
3. Anti-cancer properties-In places where consumption of garlic is high, there is a notable decrease in the risk of stomach and colon cancer. Flavonoids found in the bulb gives it its anti-cancer properties. It is a very rich source of selenium which is needed to produce the potent antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, a carcinogen inhibiting substance.
4. Digestion - The herb stimulates the stomach lining to be more active in producing digestive enzymes, aiding in the digestion of food especially fatty foodstuff.
It is advisable to seek expert medical advice before starting on garlic supplements especially if you are on anticoagulant drugs or going for surgery.

Alternative Medicine: When To Use It and Not

Some of the medical systems and therapies found on the alternative medicine list have been in service for thousands of years, in fact reaching back into prehistoric times to origins unknown. Some of these have remained unchanged for many centuries. Other entities in alternative medicine were a positive answer to the horrific early developments of allopathic medicine as it existed in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Others were the result of accidental discoveries in the relief or cure of certain ailments and health conditions. Modalities in alternative medicine range from highly efficacious to faulty, having no effect whatsoever to downright dangerous to human health. So how do you protect yourself from poor results, alas, life-threatening circumstances coming from the use of alternative medicine?
First, a bit about allopathic medicine.
This is your first step in determining whether alternative medicine is right for you in curing an ailment, pain management or any other health issue. Allopathic medicine has been so named due to its philosophy in treating for symptoms rather than restoring health from focusing on the causes of the ailment. Allopathic medicine is a biomedical entity, meaning it is highly specialized, its treatments are standardized and it is not holistic.
Albeit allopathic medicine holds first prize in having an incredibly large knowledge base about human health and disease. The system is empirically based, is scientific and its procedures rigorously tested. Allopathic medicine does have its dark side however and processes are not always in the best interest of the patient, especially since it is a for-profit industry and would go out of business if disease was eradicated.
An unlikely thing however, allopathic medicine wins the gold metal for its highly technical and effective procedures in medical emergencies and otherwise terminal conditions. Though it is not holistic and can be quite impersonal, the allopathic physician should always be consulted first for any medical condition which can have serious underlying problems.
Is Alternative Medicine No Good?
By all means, a resounding NO! Many medical systems and modalities outside of allopathic medicine are indeed highly efficacious and are great alternatives to the more expensive allopathic therapies and procedures. In non-emergency situations, alternative medicine can often provide equally effective, sometimes even better results without the side effects that often comes with chemical-based therapy.
Your alibi on the determination whether an alternative medicine is effective or is quackery comes from education. Also, what may work for one person may not work for another since each of us are different in our own right. Allopathic medicine has been standardized and through experimentation what a treatment should be is based on what is known to work on most people, caustic as it may be. Alternative medicine is not like this. It is composed of health systems and therapies which are individualized according to the patient and his needs.
Allopathic Medicine and Alternative Health
Though there are many reasons why an alternative health modality may not meet the approval of the American Medical Association (AMA,) the three main reasons are:
  • It either has not been tested or is not subject to scientific experimentation.
  • It has been tested and proven to be faulty, ineffective and/or detrimental in some way.
  • It has been tested but the results are unpredictable or is not useful to allopathic medicine.
Unless a modality has been proven to be a fake or is dangerous, and the health condition is not life threatening, there is little reason why it would be harmful to try it - especially those which have time-tested and have been known to produce positive results. Allopathic medicine does refer patients to complimentary therapy and at times alternative medicine. An example would be complementing or even replacing conventional chemical-based medications with hypnotherapy - a modality that has been proven to work on pain management.
Conclusion:
Alternative medicine can be used with or as a replacement for allopathic medicine if your regular physician deems it proper and you have been cleared of any detrimental underlying health issues. Common sense and education goes a long way. There is a vast quantity of resources out there in just about any health issue and their alternatives. Any modality or alternative medicine that has been around for a long time is probably a good source. They are often more thorough than allopathic medicine, are more personal and based on your individual needs. They focus on your whole being making them holistic.
Top rule here: Always see your regular physician first and follow his advice!

The Benefits of Becoming a Reiki Master

OK, so you have heard of Reiki, but what exactly is Reiki? If you are like a lot of people, you are in this category. So many have heard of it, but do not know what it is or how it could help them.
Well Reiki is a Japanese form of self-healing and self development. Often times it is categorized under, energy healing or laying on of hands. It is said to have been re-discovered in the early 1900's by a man by the name of Mikao Usui while on a 21 day spiritual retreat in Japan at the top of Mount Kurama.
There are three levels to Reiki. The first level has to do with learning to balance and align yourself, thus allowing the flow of this Divine energy to work with you. The second level has to do with learning to help others with this Divine energy, whether they are right in front of you or on the other side of the planet, distance healing. It is during the second level that you also learn to use this energy for healing past traumas and hurts as well as how to send it into the future for best possible outcomes for all concerned. In this sense, it can be analogous to remote influencing. There is however, an ideal in Reiki to always be kept in mind, "wish harm to none".
Then we come to the third level, also referred to as the Master level. At this level, the student becomes the teacher. As a Reiki Master, you learn how to pass Reiki on to another person. As a Reiki Master, you learn some advanced healing techniques to better assist your clients in their healing process.
All in all this type of energy healing dates as far back as ancient Egypt. It's funny how people think of it as "new age" when the reality is that "conventional" or "Westernized" medicine is the real "new age".
So, what do you get from becoming a Reiki Master? Well, Reiki has been shown to;
• relieve pain and stress
• reduce or eliminate side effects to chemo and other pharmaceuticals
• reduce inflammation
• promotes feelings of peace, relaxation and a deep Spiritual connection
• strengthen the immune system
• can increase energy (shown in some to increase red blood cells)
• can help with insomnia
• it speeds up the healing process
• can lead to clearer thinking
• helps with intuition and inner knowing
• can help with acceptance and letting go
• can help strengthen confidence
• can give a feeling of being connected to ALL beings and the World around us
• can strengthen feelings of compassion, forgiveness and love
• can aid in detoxing
• Used regularly, some have even had miraculous healings or recoveries from all types of diseases and injuries. (although this is not the norm)
Plus as a Reiki Master you could be on your way to a new career as a Reiki Practitioner or even teacher. Reiki is about helping people awaken to their full potential, leading them to leading healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives. So with this in mind, who wouldn't want to become a Reiki Master?
Suzanne OBrien has been a Reiki Master of traditional Usui/Tibetan and Intentional systems since 2002. She is also a Certified Medical Intuitive, Certified Reconnective Healer, Medium and Animal Intuitive. She has studied various other types of energy and metaphysical healing systems as well. She currently resides in Central N.J., studying all she can about natural health and healing.

Alternative Medicine: What Is It?

What is alternative medicine? It is a phrase that has been tossed around more and more in the media, the bookstores, and increasingly, the doctor's office, but how often does anyone say what alternative medicine is?
Theoretically, alternative medicine is any form of medicine that does not fit with in the scientific framework of western medicine. Once a form of medicine has been proven scientifically effective, and a theory has been determined to explain in the language of western medicine why it is effective, it should no longer be considered alternative
Unfortunately, after the theory comes the politics. In reality, in the United States, alternative medicine is any form of medicine that has not been accepted as scientifically valid by the American Medical Association and the United States Government. In other countries different official bodies will determine what is and is not alternative medicine. In the United States, massage is alternative medicine. In Canada massage is conventional medicine, and as such, highly regulated.
Would you believe that according the US government's National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, vitamins are a complementary or alternative medicine (depending on how they are used) that have not yet been proven to have any greater effect on the human body then a placebo? Personally, I'd like to know if they would like to be treated for scurvy with a placebo. I'll stick with vitamin C. There are theoretical uses for vitamins that have not yet been fully proven, but that does not make the proven effects any less scientifically valid.
At the same time, just because someone claims what they offer is medicine does not make it true. Herbal supplements are not regulated, and may not fully disclose their ingredients. They certainly will not tell you about any dangerous interaction with your heart medication!
Of course, you can ask an expert, but keep in mind that there are many kinds of alternative medicine, an acupuncturist is not necessarily trained in herbs, and your primary care physician probably won't be trained in any of them.
If you are interested in using alternative medicine, either for a specific problem, or simply improve your overall health, it's probably best to first research what kinds of alternative medicine you are interested in, and speak with you doctor about whether or not she will be willing to work with an alternative medicine practitioner. Then find a practitioner who has had training in that specific area of alternative medicine. Most forms of alternative medicine are not licensed in the United States, so ask where they went to school, and how long they have been practicing. Then they can work with your doctor to make sure you get the care you need, without any unexpected side effects.
Some forms of alternative medicine that might be worth looking into are:
Oriental medicine: Oriental medicine is the only form of alternative medicine that is truly comparably to western medicine as a complete system of medicine. Oriental medicine is based on several theories developed thousands of years ago and first elaborated on in the Yellow Emperor's Classic, between three and five thousand years ago. Oriental medicine includes the practices of massage, acupuncture, herbal therapy, qi gong, and several others. Tradition Chinese Medicine is a variant of oriental medicine specific to China. It is the only variant of oriental medicine the can be found with relative ease in the United States. In many parts of Asia, oriental medicine is still considered the standard of medical care and western medicine is 'alternative.'
Herbal therapy: Herbal therapy is probably the most common form of alternative medicine found in the United States, and quite possibly one of the riskiest. While most of the conventional medicines doctors prescribe today were derived from herbs, the herbal supplements commonly on sale have no common dosages, may contain fillers, and will rarely warn of side effects. While herbs can be used to treat everything that medication can, and possibly quite a bit more, make sure you speak with a trained herbalist before taking any. They can tell you what dosage is safe, what suppliers are worth using, and any potential side effects.
Homeopathy: Homeopathy was developed in the 1800's by two doctors who noticed that quinine, the only medicine capable of treated malaria, caused symptoms of malaria in healthy people who were given it. They theorized that like would cure like, so caffeine which normally causes wakefulness, would be used to help someone who was not sleeping through the night, sleep better. Homeopathy is probably the only alternative medicine that is safe to try without speaking with an expert, because the active substance is so dilute that it is not possible to over dose, or incur side effects on the amounts in the local health food store, never mind the few bottles you would keep in your home. At the same time, it is still best to consult a homeopath to be sure that what your taking will work for what you need.
Massage: Massage is the use of hands or tools to manipulate the muscles and tendons. The two most common uses of massage are to ease aches and pains, and for stress relief. While there are many conditions that massage will obviously not help with (diabetes, for instance), there are many that it is surprisingly effective on, such as eating disorders, fibromyalgia, and carpal tunnel syndrome. In addition, almost any muscular injury can be treated with massage to prevent scar build up, speed healing, and increase a restricted range of motion. There are many different forms of massage therapy, including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Pre-Natal Massage, Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Lomi Lomi, Medical Massage, Chair Massage, Aromatherapy Massage and Hot Stone Massage. If you go to a massage therapist for a medical condition, make sure they are trained in Medical Massage. Some states have licensing programs for massage therapists now, as do most European countries. If you live in an area that has licensing, make sure the therapist you go to is licensed.
Other forms of alternative medicine include: energetic healing, aromatherapy, Rolfing, cranial-sacral therapy, and most forms of holistic medicine.
I am a trained massage therapist, and grew up surrounded by alternative medicine. I entered massage training almost by accident, and found that I had fallen into the place I truly belonged. I believe that healthy human contact is the most powerful medicine there is. If you're interested, you can learn more about me, and my massage practice at [http://www.healinghandshealthylife.com]

One Unique Mexican Fiber Source

Here is a fiber source I have never heard of but my fat loss guru says it may be a good addition to your healthy alternative diet. Jicama pronounced (hick-a-ma) is used a lot in Mexican cuisine. This fiber source acts as all fiber does and that is to clean & give that full feeling for appetite suppression.
Below is his communication to me in it's entirety.

==================================================================

by Rob Poulos fat loss guru

Hey William,

I wanted to share with you an old superfood that's been
around for centuries that helps to tame your appetite,
helping you get and stay leaner...

It's a weird vegetable that resembles a turnip and has been
around for centuries, though I only recently discovered it,
and it's probably new to you too.

It's called Jicama (pronounced "Hick-a-ma") and it's
appetite destructing powers are owed primarily to the
ridiculous 30+ grams of fiber in one medium sized serving!

It's also loaded with calcium, magnesium, potassium and
Vitamin's A and C.

After discovering it the other day in a Mexican dish I was
enjoying, I learned that it's quite popular in Mexican
cuisine and has a very unique flavor.

I'm told when choosing it at the store, you want to look for
the medium sized ones that are firm with dry roots... what
you DON'T want are the ones that have wet or soft spots on
them, which could mean rotting has started.

You can eat it raw or use it to spice up and 'fiberize'
stir frys, salsas, salads or stews... heck anything you can
think of!

Give it a try... I'm pretty picky when it comes to unusual
foods, but this is one I am going to try and make a mainstay
in my weekly meals.

Alright enjoy that super weird but extremely healthy Jicama
and we'll talk soon...

Here's to getting lean, strong and healthy for life,
Rob Poulos
